Job Description

WE Free the Children a charity organization is looking to hire a Kitchen Steward to be based in the Mara.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Certificate / Diploma in Hospitality Management / culinary stewarding from a reputable institution;
1 year experience in a busy establishment in the same role.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other minor equipment routinely used in the kitchen following established procedures;
Clean and maintain floors and walls in kitchen and dish washing area by following standard procedures;
Clean and sanitize dishes and related service ware following established procedures
Ensure all operating equipment is in good and serviceable state;
Monitor the use of operating equipment at the wash-up to make sure there is no abuse or pilferage;
Maintain daily record of breakages and advice the Unit Chef of the appropriate action to be taken;
Check and ensure the cleaning area is kept clean and tidy at all times;
Ensures that all crockery and cutlery is cleaned and wiped thoroughly;
Ensures that all food production areas, cold rooms and stores are kept in very clean conditions;
Control the utilization and proper use of cleaning agents/ materials;
Ensure that proper hygiene is maintained at the wash-up by ensuring the use of correct cleaning materials for various equipment;
Ensure waste bin area is kept clean and tidy.

Excellent sales acumen;
Up to date with food and beverage trends and practices.
